I was struck by this quote from Sarah Gillard when I heard her speak at a leadership conference recently. Being ‘between two paradigms’ reveals real insight into where we are in the world right now. I was delighted when she agreed to share her thoughts with us.
With huge trends coming together – generational, ways of working, greater awareness of health and wellbeing, environmental concerns, searching for purpose … I’m sure I’m not the only one who can sense a fundamental shift in how we regard what’s important.
It’s playing out in HR in a big way, although the implications are still evolving.
Sarah Gillard is the CEO of A Blueprint for Better Business, a not-for-profit organisation who work with organisations to help them to get to the heart of the purpose of their organisation and turn that into a successful business model.
Sarah previously held senior HR posts so she understands the HR dimensions – and challenges – within this ambition.
Rupert Brown, who also has a stellar HR background, has been researching along similar lines for his upcoming book and will help us to explore with Sarah:
How to get to the purpose of your organisation – and to your own;
What these changes mean for the social contract, and the psychological contract with the employer;
What this means for the HR leader and the leader’s role as the social conscience of the organisation, and a coach and sounding board in the area of values and culture.
I’ll contribute our tool to illuminate links between culture and leadership and business results in your own Success Model – to prove the impact of sustainable ‘better business’.
