The world of work is still flexing into new shapes – and new opportunities
It’s been a pretty messy few years. So much uncertainty and so little solid ground to stand on. A truly testing time, for everyone. What have you learned about yourself?
For my part, I’ve learned that my home is even more important than ever. I used to spend so much time travelling to do work on-site with clients, and looking back that seems pretty wasteful.
Working from home has its challenges too, though, doesn’t it? But – I’m now clear that that’s the way forward and it’s a relief to be able to plan for that – to focus on making virtual working work and, in my case, virtual development solutions.
I’ve experienced some pretty deep shifts in my thinking this year. However, being forced to develop impactful virtual learning experiences has opened up more doors than it’s closed – like blending training into work much more effectively.
I’ve always loved being in the room with participants and creating some magic, but how long can that magic last when they’re back at work? Putting much more effort into pre-work and assignments that integrate learning into work has actually created more robust solutions for blended programmes.
And running free webinars and paid workshops that people could book from our website? Honestly, 3 years ago, if you’d told me that, I wouldn’t have believed you.
We’ve all had to dig deep, and if you’re in HR you’ve had to manage mind-bending workload and pressure and it isn’t over yet. The world of work is still flexing into new shapes – and new opportunities.
