The maturity of HR is directly related to the maturity of leadership

You can bring a horse to water, as they say, but you can’t make it drink.

Part of our challenge in HR is to make the horse thirsty enough to drink.

I guess that’s the point reached at the orange below on the graphic below, which is thanks to Paul Kearns. The penny drops, and business leaders realise just how important human capability is, and that it can be leveraged with HR’s help.

Building greater leadership maturity tends to be a part of transforming HR. You have to build a two-way street.

It can be a journey that takes many conversations, with many different stakeholders. It takes data, stories, evidence and influence.
