Recognised at last – culture drives business

HR leaders know that culture is a vital ingredient of successful business, but it can be a struggle to get positive values driven from the top – to get leaders to walk the talk. We’re seeing more CEOs get on board, but is it lip service? Can HR use this momentum to drive more real commitment?

Here’s some data to prove the lag between intention and action. According to Deloitte:
– 86% of executives surveyed around the world rate culture as “very important” or “important”;
– 82% of executives believe that culture is a potential competitive advantage, but only
– 12% of executives believe they are driving the “right culture”.

Recent events have pushed the ‘right culture’ into the foreground – like learning to trust employees to work from home; how critical well-being is to performance, and how agile people can be. These traits are helping organisations to survive right now.

It’s powerful fuel for top-level debates about getting more focus, commitment and resources onto culture and values.
