As many of you will know, I’m passionate about building the credibility and value of HR. I’d like to share the story of how we came up with our HR Enablers and our programmes.
We kept hearing HR people say that they wanted to become more strategic and less reactive, and to win more respect and influence. They wanted to add more value, but it was a tough nut to crack. They were so busy, and it’s a multi-faceted role. We looked into it.
We researched the views of CEOs, business leaders, thought leaders and experts – there are plenty of people who say ‘HR should …’
But ‘should’ never achieved anything, and a lot of those who judge HR haven’t actually been there. We have.
We wanted to get down to the practical behaviours and activities that build into great HR, at every level.
We worked out how to describe, develop and evaluate them – self, 360, team and function – in a way that opens up opportunities, choices and inspiration.
