How effective is the interaction between HR and the rest of the business in your organisation?

I’ve enjoyed some insightful dialogue with Dave Ulrich over the last few days – thank you so much for your encouragement, Dave. One thread has been turning strategic intent into actual business impact.

We explored Dave’s 4 HR Principles, and also the latest update to his Leadership Code. Let me add ours to the mix, and how we got there.

We kept hearing HR people say ‘we want to change but we don’t know how’. We looked into it. There’s lots of advice on strategic imperatives and how to shape the function, but less on how to shift the day-to-day activities.

Do what you always did, and you get what you always got.

Dave’s creation of the HRBP was a game-changer. However in reality for many it was a change in job title and not in how they operated. What do you actually need to do to become business savvy, win a seat at the table, and build your credibility and influence?

We researched that and distilled it into behaviours and activities that you can understand, grasp, measure and develop.
