HR must do this proactively and routinely, rather than only when there’s an issue. This is key to being invited to contribute at the right time; so that you and your stakeholders know when your input is appropriate and has value. It provides ongoing research and relationship-building, as well as being seen to be interested, engaged and speaking the right language. Use your stakeholder map to prioritise where you can spend your time most purposefully.
