It is all too easy for HR to develop their processes and solutions alone, or involve limited stakeholders. HR can engineer interventions that are technically elegant and best practice, but that are not embraced by the people who will use them and thus fail to reach their full potential. Sometimes it’s a matter of driving for full implementation – persevering with influencing, training and proving that it’s the right solution. Sometimes the solution needs to be ‘dumbed down’ to make it more practical and user-friendly. Less is often more. Involving a wide group of stakeholders in the design process is wise, and also helps with the adoption of the system or initiative.
