Every business has its own rhythms, both formal and informal. Many are fixed into the organisation’s calendar, and it’s important to know when ideas begin to develop and get traction. HR can get left behind the curve when they’re not in the room when ideas and discussions get going. Timing creates vital opportunities to get ahead and be proactive. HR tends to be driven by the performance management and talent cycles, but the rest of the business is driven by the financial routines and business planning and budgeting cycles. Make sure you know the critical cycles and dates. HR’s analytics can be fed into these.
