Has the pandemic changed how trust is built in organisations?
The Mercer 2024 Global Talent Trends Report contains some interesting research on trust. I’m pleasantly surprised by the positive shift achieved during such a challenging period of upheaval in the world of work. These are the standout statistics for me:
81% of employees ‘trust their manager to have their back’ – up from 66% pre-pandemic;
79% of employees ‘say that people trust each other at their company’ – up from 67%;
78% of employees ‘say that when someone makes a mistake, it’s easy for them to recover – up from 62%.
This is worth celebrating. Learning to make remote working work has been tough for line managers – and for HR. It could be a strong indicator that HR’s influence and impact have grown.
Does this reflect progress made in your own organisation?
