My previous post about building One HR Team provoked a massive response, and today’s short report from McKinsey & Company confirms that this is of strategic importance right now.
‘Creating a cohesive people function operating structure’ is one of their four themes for ensuring that HR and L&D have a future focus:
‘Our research suggests that despite knowing the potential upside of people function integration, only a small percentage of organizations are making meaningful efforts to “de-silo” these functions. A cohesive operating structure with open access to data can unlock the ability to predict changes in workforce needs, increase evidence-based decision-making, and automate how skills are identified, assessed, and verified.’
This gives another slant – the importance of integrating data and leveraging it as a whole function (which we can help you with, by the way).
It’s not surprising that any separation between parts of HR may have become more entrenched during the last few tumultuous years – it’s been tough.
However, in this new world of work it’s even more important to make sure that HR is lined up – together – behind business priorities.
4x CHRO Asad Husain and I will be running a webinar in September on this topic, so look out for that.
